The wedding fashion scene is always evolving, and one of the latest trends that has captured my heart is the stunning puff sleeve. Adding a touch of romance and drama, this trend helps brides add some coverage to their arms and to give a flirty, feminine nod.
Whether it's a delicate sheer puff or a bold statement, these sleeves are set to dominate wedding runways and ceremonies alike. I am here to guide you through the process.

Step-by-Step Guide to DIY Puffy Sleeves
1. Download the Pattern and Assemble
Download the pattern. Print out the design on printer paper and assemble. The position of each pattern piece is noted in the top left of the paper. Tape the pattern together.
2. Cut out the Pattern
Cut out the pattern in your desired size. The sizes range from XS-XL in standard US sizes.
3. Cut and Prepare the Fabric
Using your chosen fabric, carefully cut out 2 pieces of the sleeve pattern. Do this by folding the fabric in half with right sides facing each other. Remember to leave extra allowance for sewing. Iron out any wrinkles to ensure a smooth finish.
4. Pin and Sew Pleats
Create small 1'' pleats along the curved section.
5. Fold Pleated Section to Non Pleated Section
Make sure right sides are together
6. Create the Puff
To achieve the signature puff effect, gather the fabric near the sleeve head. Stitch a loose seam around the top, leaving long tails of thread. Pull the threads to gather the fabric until it achieves the desired puffiness. Secure the threads in place.
7. Sew Side Seams Together
Fold the sleeve in half and pin the two sides together with right sides facing together. Stitch
8. Final Touches
Try on the sleeves and make any necessary adjustments. Ensure they complement your wedding dress and allow for easy movement. They can be sewn onto your dress or you can attach elastic at the top for easy removal.
